May 29, 2026 — BurlingtonGreen
On Saturday, May 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., community members are invited to take part in a free, family-friendly event that supports sustainability, reduces textile waste, and promotes a circular economy. The Burlington Spring Clothing Swap 2026 will take place at St. Christopher’s Church in Burlington. Textile waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, and clothing swaps are a simple, accessible way to help reduce environmental impact.
Hosted by Reconnect Burlington and BurlingtonGreen, this event encourages participants to swap clean, gently used clothing, shoes, hats, and accessories, helping to reduce textile waste and extend the life of garments.
How it works:
● Item drop-off: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
● Brief presentation and swap instructions: 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
● Clothing swap: 12:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring clean items in clean, gently-used condition that they would feel comfortable gifting to someone else.
In addition to the swap, attendees can enjoy:
● Family-friendly games
● A colouring activity for kids
● Opportunities to learn about the impact of fashion and textile waste
● Free refreshments for all participants
“Reconnect Burlington and BurlingtonGreen are excited to once again bring the community together through sustainable action,” said Kale Black, BurlingtonGreen Senior Program Manager & Reconnect Burlington Coordinator. “Whether you’re clearing out your closet, finding new-to-you clothing, or simply looking to connect with your neighbours, this event is a fun and meaningful way to reduce waste and support one another.”
Residents are encouraged to invite friends and family and take part in this community effort to reduce waste and support more sustainable living in Burlington.
Any remaining items at the end of the event will be donated to the Open Doors Burlington program led by St. Christopher’s Church, as well as the Compassion Society.
