We believe in transparency and encourage local residents to submit articles. It’s simple. We need basic contact information about you (name, mailing address, email address, personal phone number) and we need your article.

Email to articles@local-news.ca and attach your article as a word document. A standard article length is 600-800 words, although we will take them up to 1,000 words. Add links to any attributable sources and research. Attach a headshot of yourself if you wish.

Since we are dedicated to providing quality information free to our readers, we:

• retain the right to edit any article for grammar, spelling and/or content to meet our guidelines, presently known or unknown and
• retain the right to accept or refuse to publish any article.

If you are trying to grow traffic on your own blog or website, feel free to include one link to your website at the end of your post.

Please do not embed images. Add them as a separate attachment to your email.

As a guest writer, please understand that publishing your work is not a guarantee of employment, future publishing or promise of payment.

Readers Comments

To support a collaborative community, we welcome comments on articles in our sports, community, and health and fitness pages. It is important that we and our readers know who is commenting. When commenting or joining a discussion, we expect you to post your name.

To make comments, you may be required to register. You may post in English or in French, not in any other language.

We retain the right to review, edit, move, refuse, block or delete any user postings for any reason whatsoever, in our sole discretion. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification or discontinuance of your user postings.

Podcasts and YouTube Videos

If you have a podcast or YouTube video you would like Local-News.ca to feature, please send a link and permission to publish it on local-news.ca. We need basic contact information about you: your name, mailing address, email address, and personal phone number.

• do not guarantee or provide any warranty with respect to the accuracy, integrity, or quality of user podcast or YouTube postings

If you are the administrator of a social network group in Burlington, Ontario, we encourage you to post articles about your community group on Local-News.ca. If you are trying to grow traffic on your group’s website, feel free to include one link to it at the end of your article/post.

1. Anonymous
2. Abusive or harmful to any group of individuals
3. An attack against any group or person. We encourage genuine discussion of the topic at hand, not attacking the character, motive or other attribute of the person making the argument.
4. Hateful or violent or advocates hate, violence, and/or racial intolerance
5. Adult content that is suitable only for mature adults
6. Encouraging the abuse of drugs, including alcohol, tobacco or tobacco-related content, vaping, cannabis, etc.
7. Promoting or describing methods for hacking and/or cracking content
8. Promoting or advocating use of weapons or firearms
9. Generally considered illegal or encouraging illegal acts or activities
10. Written for the benefit of a paid contractor or employee. Column content should be general and not defined to a writer’s company, person or clients. Private business submissions may be more suited to advertising or advertorials and will be subject to review.
11. Copyrighted material quoted or reproduced without permission from the original source or without attribution to the original source, including links, photos, videos, and graphics.
