Three people have filed nomination papers seeking to fill the vacant Halton public school trustee seat for Burlington’s Wards 1 and 2.

They are Daniel Warren Oke, Robbie Brydon, and Anthony Alexander Hoyes.

Candidates may file nomination papers until 2 p.m. on April 14 at City Hall. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, a resident of the Halton District School Board jurisdiction, and eligible to vote in a school board election.

The city is offering a virtual information meeting for people interested in running for the position. It will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 6;30 p.m.

Election day has been set for Monday, May 29, but there are earlier online and advance poll options.

The position became vacant when Matthew Diodati, who was elected only last fall, subsequently resigned for personal reasons.

Correction notice: eligibility for HDSB trustee candidacy has been corrected to reflect residency in HDSB’s jurisdiction, rather than specifically in Burlington’s Wards 1 or 2, as originally reported. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
