Oct. 20, 2026 — City of Burlington

The City of Burlington has extended the online voting period for the 2026 municipal election from Friday, Oct. 23 to Sunday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.

The decision was made after the City became aware of an unintended mailing error that resulted in 5000 Voter Information Letters (VILs) not being delivered to households in Ward 6.

Voter Information Letters are required for eligible voters who wish to cast their ballot online.

Electors in Ward 6 who have not received their VIL can expect them to arrive at their household by mail by Oct. 21. Other electors who have not received their VIL can call 905-335-7777, ext. 8683 (VOTE) to have their VIL issued directly.

Eligible voters who plan to vote in person do not require a Voter Information Letter. Voters can bring one piece of valid ID that shows their name and address.

Opportunities for eligible voters to cast their ballot continue:

  • Online voting remains open until Sunday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.
  • In-person at the advanced poll on Tuesday, Oct. 20, open until 8 p.m. this evening
  • In-person on Voting Day, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
