Fall is almost here, and there are plenty of opportunities to get outside, connect with nature, and take action for the environment! BurlingtonGreen has a variety of upcoming activities for individuals, families, workplaces, schools, and community groups to enjoy the crisp fall air while making a positive difference locally.
Celebrate National Forest Week with BurlingtonGreen! Submit a photo of your favourite Burlington tree to our Tree Photo Contest starting September 21 for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Connon Nurseries. Join the Ask an Arborist Webinar on September 23 to learn more about tree care and urban forests, and on September 26, help plant and care for trees at Longmoor Park while learning about tree stewardship, creating native seed balls and more!.
There is still time to participate in BurlingtonGreen’s free Community Clean Up program, running until Oct 31. An opportunity for everyone in Burlington to help collect litter from parks, creeks, schoolyards and neighbourhoods. Free bags, gloves and tip sheets are available after you register.
Give Thanks by Caring for Nature on October 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Burlington Beach with a Thanksgiving Beach Clean Up. Help remove litter while searching for microplastics and nurdles that can harm wildlife and enter our waterways.
Fall Zero Waste Drop-Off returns on October 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Burlington Centre. Start gathering your unwanted electronics and other accepted items to support recycling and the circular economy.
The Fall Clothing Swap returns on November 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Christopher’s United Church. This free event is a great way to give clothing a second life while finding “new-to-you” items at no cost. Registration details coming soon.
Share your Eco-Actions! Help BurlingtonGreen reach our goal of 200,000 Eco-Actions by 2030 by sharing the everyday actions you’re already taking for the environment. Residents, workplaces, schools and community groups can participate and help inspire more local action.
BurlingtonGreen also offers engaging team volunteer opportunities for businesses, schools and community groups, including cleanups, invasive species removal, toward zero waste workshops and other hands-on environmental activities.
