Nov. 10, 2023 — From Halton Gives

As the anticipation for GivingTuesday, the global day of generosity and philanthropy, builds up, Halton Region’s local movement, Halton Gives, is gearing up to inspire and engage all entities and individuals in the spirit of kindness and giving on November 28.

The concept of GivingTuesday, originating in 2012, was a simple yet powerful idea to encourage acts of goodwill. Since then, it has burgeoned into a global phenomenon, touching the lives of millions of people worldwide and fostering a culture of generosity and collaboration. In Canada, it was founded in 2013 by CanadaHelps.org, GIV3, and other founding partners, now boasting active movements in over 80 countries. The mission remains consistent — to foster a world where giving is an integral part of everyday life.

On November 28, Halton Region invites individuals and organizations to join the global movement and contribute to creating a positive impact. Whether through the donation of time, skills, resources, or goods, the day serves as a reminder to share with those in need and strengthen our communities. It’s a day to come together to make a difference in the lives of others and in our communities.

“Every act of kindness and generosity, no matter how small, holds the power to make a significant difference,” emphasized Kristen Curry, chair of Halton Gives. “GivingTuesday unites our community, igniting the spirit of giving, and together, we can create a lasting impact.”

It’s easy to get involved!
