This Sunday, Oct. 1, join the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) in the Run for Burlington at Spencer Smith Park to raise money for the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation, with opening ceremonies starting at 9:00 a.m.

This is the second annual Run for Burlington organized by AMYA, though these runs are organized across Canada by regional chapters, including the Run for Mississauga, Run for Vaughan, and the Run for Saskatoon, amongst others. Last year’s Burlington event raised $10,000 for the hospital, and while this year’s official goal is $10,000, AMYA would really love to see that number pushed up to $15,000.

There are three run options: the 1 km family walk, and a 3 km or 5 km route. The family walk is free for participants; the 3 km run has a $20 registration fee; the 5 km run has a $30 registration fee. Participants are encouraged to raise money on top of their registration fee to increase that final donation to Joseph Brant.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association has over 50 branches in Canada alone, with principles of service and sacrifice. The Halton-Niagara branch of AMYA is our local branch. Members range between the ages of 16 and 30 years, and most of the Run for Burlington organizers live in Burlington and Oakville. Their charitable undertakings occur across Halton and Niagara; as well as this run, member activities include giving food and supplies to people experiencing homelessness.
