Hello, awesome humans!

I’m Tyson, and I’m six years and six months old. The humans say that I am a bulldog-American/retriever-labrador mix, but I think I’m purebred pawsomeness.

I was surrendered to the Humane Society in 2022 for no fault of my own, and I am currently in a wonderful and loving foster home. I am a sweet boy with lots of love to give. I love being with my people and giving endless amounts of cuddles. I’m a quick learner, and I respond well to positive reinforcement. I LOVE my bed so much that I carry it with me from room to room. A handsome boy like me enjoys his comfort, and who knows when one may need a nap.

I respond well to commands: I do sit, lie down, off, paw, spin, come, heel, and wait. I have made big improvements walking on a leash with an easy-walk harness. I’ve also learned “look” to check in and to ask permission to go sniff. I will occasionally pull if I get a good scent, but this is easily corrected. I blame the retriever part in me for this trait. I am working on being less reactive towards dogs and people approaching when I’m on-leash. I am making good progress with this.

My forever family will need to be confident advocating for my space. Once my triggers are out of sight, I quickly return to calm following some commands.

I can be left alone in a dog-proof space. I have been left alone for up to six hours. I may occasionally bark at a passerby, but I quickly settle.

I currently go on three to four short (10–30 minutes) walks per day. I enjoy eating all of my meals with enrichment (e.g. Kong, snuffle mat, treat balls).
They recommend that my new home  continue to set clear boundaries with me and provide me with a consistent routine. I LOVE routine. My foster family says that I’m incredibly smart, and a very loving dog who would make a family very happy.

I’ve been patiently waiting for a forever family who will love me and take care of me as I approach my senior dog years. I also need to be the only fur baby in the home.

If you are interested in meeting me, please go fill out the online adoption application form on the Burlington Humane Society website at www.burlingtonhumane.ca — I can’t wait to meet you and shower you with love and cuddles.

Love and licks from Tyson.

A happy Tyson.
