Halton Regional Police reported a shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning, the third shooting in Burlington this year.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sat., June 24, police responded to a call to a parking lot on the south side of Lakeshore Rd. near John St., where they found two male victims with gunshot injuries. A 25-year-old with serious injuries and a 31-year-old with minor injuries were taken to the hospital.
Police are working to confirm an accurate description of the suspect, who is believed to have fled on foot.
The police news release notes that they believe this incident to be “targeted…[with] no known or ongoing threat relating to public safety.”

In April of this year, police responded to reports of a male victim with a gunshot wound to his leg in the area of Guelph Line and New St.; in February, a 20-year-old female victim was shot outside of the Playground, a gym on Century Dr., after a sporting event. The crime map allows residents to view regularly-updated crime data for their neighbourhoods. While it may be a useful resource for identifying trends in crime over time, Constable Ryan Anderson warned earlier this year against using the data to draw conclusions about the current state of crime in the region. “Since the crime map information is generated in real-time, it is not confirmed or endorsed by the HRPS to be entirely accurate. There are duplicate occurrences there, occurrences that are investigated and deemed unfounded, and occurrences that are investigated and changed to a different type of crime. There are also types of crime that are not included on the crime map (such as intimate partner violence).”
