Halton Region has invited residents to get public input on this council’s priorities and actions via its survey on the 2023–2026 Strategic Business Plan.
The survey is available until May 4, 2023, for residents, businesses, and stakeholders to complete, and the feedback that is gathered will guide the final version of the plan as presented for regional council’s approval in July.
Prior to filling in the survey, the region recommends reading through its Strategic Business Plan 2023–2026 Consultation Document, which outlines the themes, goals, actions, and measurements the region proposes taking to reach and evaluate its goals.
The four strategic themes for this term’s business plan are community well-being; climate change and the environment; infrastructure and growth; and excellence in government.
Goals for the theme of community well-being include increasing and maintaining options for assisted and supportive housing, and emergency shelter; improving health and reducing health inequities; and improving community safety.
The theme of climate and change and environment includes such goals as achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions before 2050; making partnerships with local municipalities and other stakeholders to work on a collective response to climate change and to protect the environment; and to maximize the diversion of residential waste from landfills.
For infrastructure and growth, goals include increasing and maintaining regional infrastructure with regard to housing; improving access to public transit and active transportation; and promoting better broadband services across the region.
Finally, for the theme of excellence in government, the region’s goals include strengthening digital service delivery; ensuring financial sustainability; committing to equity, diversity, and inclusion as an employer; working towards Truth and Reconciliation through building relationships with Indigenous partners.
Expect the survey to take around 10 minutes to complete; all responses will remain anonymous. If you need an alternate survey format, email accesshalton@halton.ca or call 311, 905-825-6000, toll-free 1-866-442-5866 or TTY 905-827-9833. Click here to access the survey online.
