Season Sponsor: Mercedes-Benz Burlington

June 1, 2022 — Press release from the Burlington Performing Arts Centre

Tuesday May 31st, to a full and excited crowd, the Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) announced the 2022/2023 BPAC Presents Season to its members! Tammy Fox, Executive Director, has once again programmed an exhilarating season of music, dance, comedy, variety, illusion, theatre and family shows. There is something for everyone this season, which officially goes on sale today, with our first shows in August with our Jazz in the Plaza weekend, August 13 and 14, 2022.

BPAC members, sponsors, community stakeholders and the media were entertained by the humour and quick wit of a BPAC favourite comic and season launch host, Seán Cullen, who will also be hosting four Comedy Cocktails this upcoming season, bringing guest comics and musical talent to entertain the Burlington community again!

Guests were treated to surprise performances by four exciting musical acts that will be gracing the BPAC stages this season. Burlington native, Francine Kay mesmerized the audience with her “poetic brilliance” on the piano. Kay will be performing a full show Sunday, February 19, 2023 in the intimate Community Studio Theatre. Canadian reggae band, Sattalites, had patrons dancing in their seats and getting excited for their show this fall. Danny Michel, also coming back in November, shared his thoughtful lyrics with a charming performance showcasing his award winning singer-songwriter music. The Rowdymen, had everyone rocking to traditional and contemporary East Coast rock. They will be back with music from the smash hit “Come From Away” and other amazing Newfoundland-inspired
music in February on BPACs main stage!

A luxury vehicle will be showcased in our plaza, from our season sponsor, Mercedes-Benz Burlington who has become a wonderful partner of the theatre. We were excited to announce many new and returning sponsors this year and we welcome you to thank them for helping bring arts and culture to the forefront of the Burlington community!

“I am truly thrilled to be bringing a full season of programming back to BPAC this year. After two years of pandemic closures and restrictions, we are all ready to be back in the theatre and we are excited to be connecting artists and audiences once again. We have found a way to embrace our commitment to diversity and inclusion through a wide range of local, national and international performers throughout the season, including showcasing the Ukraine Ballet during this time of political unrest globally. Our local artists will be showcased in many ways, on both of our stages and in our beautiful lobby. We are excited to welcome everyone back to BPAC!” – Tammy Fox, Executive Director

BPAC favourite, The Nutcracker, performed by State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, will be back for three shows as part of our holiday series as will Natalie McMaster and her family for A Celtic Family Christmas. Classic Albums Live, always a sell out performance, is back with two exciting albums to present: The Rolling Stones’ LET IT BLEED in November and The Beatles LET IT BE in March will be performed, note for note, cut for cut. This is not a tribute band but a faithful recreation of some of the most memorable music ever made!

Classical music lovers will be awe-struck by local pianist Philip Chiu and his infectious love of music. Chiu is not just a brilliant musician but has an innate ability to connect with the audience on and off stage! The pristine voices of The Vienna Boys’ Choir will also grace the stage of BPAC. Renowned across the globe as one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world, we are eagerly awaiting their arrival in October again!

It wouldn’t be a BPAC Season without some amazing classic rock! Glass Tiger (October 14, 2022) and Kim Mitchell (February 18, 2023), two of Canada’s most iconic rock icons will be here, along with Air Supply (announced last season) in September! Expect full, sold out shows for these amazing rock performances!
