May 21, 2026 — BurlingtonGreen

Rain or shine, BurlingtonGreen will host its annual Spring Zero Waste Drop-Off on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Burlington Centre’s parking lot (corner of Guelph Line and Fairview), with interactive activities taking place inside the shopping centre from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Held in partnership with Burlington Centre and Tech Genius Burlington Inc., this community event helps support a circular economy by encouraging the repair, reuse, and responsible recycling of unwanted items. Since launching annual Zero Waste Drop-offs in 2021, BurlingtonGreen and community participants have diverted more than 36 tonnes of electronics waste from landfill.

Community members are encouraged to gather outdated, broken, or unwanted electronics and bring them for proper recycling. Accepted materials include computers, cell phones, disposable vape devices, batteries, ink and toner cartridges, and more. If it plugs in, charges or takes batteries, and you can lift it — we will likely be able to recycle it!

TerraCycle Zero Waste bins will also be available for hard-to-recycle items not accepted in Halton Region’s recycling program, including coffee capsules, disposable gloves and small air and water filters. A ChopValue collection bin for wooden chopsticks will also be on site.

In preparation for BurlingtonGreen’s Spring Clothing Swap on May 30, the event will also accept donations of clean, gently used clothing and accessories such as hats, shoes, and ties.

After dropping off materials outside, visitors are invited inside Burlington Centre to explore BurlingtonGreen’s interactive Towards Zero Waste space, located near Entrance 1 in the former Cogeco unit. Families can enjoy games, sorting challenges, trivia with prizes, and hands-on educational activities focused on reducing waste and plastic pollution.

As a registered charity, BurlingtonGreen gratefully welcomes optional $5 donations to help support ongoing environmental programs and community initiatives. Bonus: free pollinator-friendly wildflower seed packets will be available while supplies last.
