FeedHalton is pleased to announce a generous donation of $67,000 from its partner Eaton, in support of strengthening food security and improving access to nutritious food for the Halton community.

To recognize this significant contribution, a cheque presentation has taken place at Eaton’s Burlington office.

FeedHalton is a newly established food distribution hub serving food banks, community programs and partners to build a coordinated distribution approach and improve food access in Halton. This donation from Eaton, who have a large facility and office in Burlington as well as two locations in Milton, will help support the work needed to create sustainability and impact.

“We are deeply grateful to Eaton Charitable Fund for this foundational gift,” states Robin Bailey, executive director of FeedHalton. “FeedHalton was created to build a more coordinated, efficient and equitable food infrastructure system for Halton. This funding allows us to strengthen and improve the way food flows through the system via our work of centralized volume procurement, logistics, and distribution ultimately ensuring that our community has reliable access to nutritious food. Eaton’s support sends a powerful message that our community is committed to addressing food insecurity, together.”

As both a corporate partner and community leader, Eaton has made supporting food security a key element of its local impact.

“At Eaton, we believe that a thriving community is one where we all work together to make it stronger,” said John Iannuzzi, board member at FeedHalton and director of human resources at Eaton. “Our team at Eaton is incredibly proud to support FeedHalton’s innovative model, focusing on being part of the solution to food insecurity in the region through collaboration, coordination and long-term sustainability. Our partnership aligns with our values as a company and as neighbours in the Halton Region. Beyond our financial gift and my role as a Board Director, the Eaton team from Burlington also regularly volunteers at FeedHalton, sorting and packing critical food distribution boxes destined for front-line Halton agencies. We are honoured to be part of the important work to build a more secure food system for everyone.”

Eaton’s contribution will support FeedHalton’s work in transforming and coordinating food access across Halton with a systems-based approach; strengthening collaboration with agency partners, suppliers and sector organizations, and improving the stability and predictability of food distribution.
