On October 20, the Burlington Community Foundation (BCF) will welcome local charities, businesses, philanthropic families, and community members to its new summit, The Legacy Exchange, powered by Wealth and Legacy Partners.

“This is a new, unique summit that Burlington Community Foundation is bringing to the city,” said CEO Megan Tregunno. “We know that legacy is not just about what’s left behind — it’s also about living legacies being built every day. Through connection with local charities, businesses, and community members, we hope to strengthen the discussion around creating lasting community impact, which is core to our mission as a community foundation.”

Program highlights:

  • The FirstOntario Charity Showcase: a chance to learn about the mission and impact of 30+ charitable organizations in Halton Region
  • Keynote address from Chief Connector and Generosity Educator Paul Nazareth
  • Local business panellists sharing insights on how they have built community and giving back into their business: Emma Harris and Dr. Brendon Laing, Novel (photo attached); Ryan Sgro, McDonald’s Corporation; Luis Velasquez and Juliana Berrio, Familia Fine Foods
    • Two Learning Tracks, each consisting of two 50-minute workshops:
      o Legacy by Design Track (designed for businesses & philanthropic families)
      o Learn how to build philanthropy into family business succession with Peter Andreana (C2Family Office).
      o Learn how to move from responsive giving to strategic community investment with Lynn Fergusson (Fergusson Consulting).
    • Community Impact Track (designed for charities & volunteers)
      o Financial Literacy That Works for Nonprofits with FirstOntario Credit Union.
      o Demystifying Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) with the Burlington Community Foundation team.

Attendees purchasing tickets can select their Learning Track.

The Legacy Exchange, powered by Wealth and Legacy Partners, is a meaningful opportunity for community members, businesses, charities and non-profits, board members, and volunteers to come together to connect and learn. A limited number of tickets are available for purchase.
