BurlingtonGreen welcomes the community to celebrate the beauty, importance, and benefits of trees during National Forest Week with a series of engaging and educational events.

Tree Photo Contest – Submissions open September 21st
Community members are invited to showcase their favorite Burlington tree by participating in BurlingtonGreen’s annual Tree Photo Contest. Submit a photo of a tree located in Burlington, along with a short description and the location. 

The winner, selected by community voting, will receive a $50 gift card to Connon Nurseries. Entries must be emailed to bg@burlingtongreen.org before the deadline of midnight on October 30, 2026. 

Ask an Arborist Webinar – September 23 at 7 p.m.
BurlingtonGreen’s popular Ask An Arborist webinar features Kyle McLoughlin, Master Arborist and Supervisor of Forest Planning and Health at the City of Burlington. Kyle will share his expertise on tree and urban forest care and answer participants’ tree-related questions. 

Registration at burlingtongreen.org includes an opportunity to submit questions in advance. 

Tree Loving Care and Planting Workshop at Mohawk Park – September 24, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Together with the City of Burlington Forestry staff, we are bringing community members together for a hands-on TLC and planting workshop at Mohawk Park. Participants will help plant native trees, remove invasive plants and shrubs, weed and mulch existing trees, and create and scatter native seed balls to support pollinators.

Fall Tree Planting event at Longmork Park – September 26, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Partnering with the City of Burlington Forestry staff, BurlingtonGreen’s popular Tree Loving Care (TLC) event invites residents, students, community groups, and business employees to get involved in hands-on tree stewardship.

Activities will include tree planting, weeding, mulching, and creating native seed balls to support pollinators.

Advance registration at www.burlingtongreen.org is required, as space is limited. This rewarding and educational event takes place rain or shine on Saturday, September 26 at Longmoor Park.

We are looking forward to supporting community members’ knowledge of trees, celebrating our city’s terrific trees, and connecting people to the joys of planting trees.”
