Getting active in Burlington is becoming easier than ever. The City of Burlington has partnered with Equip Sport to install 20 free sport equipment lockers in parks and public spaces across the city over the coming weeks.
Residents will be able to borrow equipment such as basketballs and soccer balls at no cost, making it easier to get outside, be active and enjoy Burlington parks.
The initiative supports Burlington’s commitment to creating healthy, active and connected neighbourhoods by reducing barriers to recreation and making sport and play more accessible for everyone.
Funded by Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, in partnership with the City of Burlington and Equip Sport, the program helps remove financial and access barriers that can prevent children, youth and families from participating in sport.
By placing free equipment directly in neighbourhood parks, residents can enjoy spontaneous opportunities for play and be more active and connect with others close to home.
This partnership helps remove barriers and creates more opportunities for spontaneous play and physical activity. Whether you’re shooting hoops with friends, practicing soccer skills with your family or trying a new activity, these lockers make it easier to get moving and make the most of Burlington’s parks. How to access the equipment
The lockers are secure, easy to use and designed to support residents of all ages and abilities. Equipment can be borrowed and returned for others to enjoy, creating a simple and sustainable community-sharing model.
Residents can access the lockers through the free Equip Sport mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Once registered, users can unlock equipment, use it and return items when they’re finished so others can enjoy them, too.
There is no cost to download or use the app. Users must be 16 years of age or older to create an account and borrow equipment. Kids younger than 16 can use a family account.
