Spring is in the air, and Burlington Public Library is ready to help the community get growing. BPL’s Seed Library is now open for the 2026 season, offering 32 varieties of flowers, vegetables, and herbs for gardeners of all experience levels.
Whether planting a backyard garden or a few pots on a balcony, BPL’s Seed Library makes it easy to get started. Seed varieties vary by branch and are available while supplies last.
Seed Library invites participants to experience the full growing cycle—from sowing and tending to harvesting and seed saving. While returning seeds is not required, gardeners are encouraged to save and share seeds from their most successful plants. Over time, this helps build a collection of seeds well-suited to local growing conditions.
Getting started is simple. Explore the complete Seed Library collection on Burlington Public Library’s website to learn how to grow each variety, then visit any BPL branch with your library card to borrow up to three seed packages per family. Seed Library provides free “try-it” sample packages of plant seeds, specifically selected for easy growing and seed harvesting.
Throughout the season, BPL will also offer curated booklists and programs with practical gardening tips to support both new and experienced growers.
