This April, Burlington Public Library invites residents to give creative materials a second life through its Craft Supply Drive, running from April 1 to 30 at all library branches. Donations of new or gently used craft supplies will support free hands-on programs for children and teens across the city.

By collecting and reusing creative materials, the drive celebrates Earth Month at the library while helping reduce waste and expand access to supplies for future library activities.

“Libraries are places where creativity and community come together,” says Tammy Csajaghy, manager of programming at Burlington Public Library. “The Craft Supply Drive is a simple way for residents to share materials they no longer need and help support creative programs for young learners across Burlington.”

Donations will be accepted during open hours at all BPL branches beginning April 1, with donation bins available for easy drop-off. Suggested items include construction paper, felt, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, yarn, pompoms, coffee filters, paper plates, and other basic craft materials.

All donated items must be clean and in usable condition. Liquids, broken items, and sharp tools will not be accepted.

At the end of the month-long drive, teens have an opportunity to take part in a volunteer sorting event at Central Branch. High school students will sort and organize the donated supplies, preparing them for use in library programs while earning community service hours.

The Craft Supply Drive supports several important community priorities, including reducing waste through reuse and offering meaningful volunteer opportunities for teens.
