April 2, 2025 — Sound of Music
The wait is over. With 45 years of bringing live music to Burlington and the surrounding region, the 2025 Sound of Music Festival lineup has officially been unveiled. We’re turning up the dial on Canadian content, with headline acts for the June 12-15 festival at Spencer Smith Park including Big Wreck, David Wilcox, Tebey, Steven Page, Joel Plaskett, Tim Baker and Junkhouse.
“This year, we made a conscious decision to ignite the stage with an all-Canadian powerhouse line up,” says festival board chair Dave Shepherd. “It was time for us to shine the spotlight on some homegrown talent on the incredible talent from our own backyard. Staging the festival is a huge undertaking and we’re proud that Burlington is synonymous with the Sound of Music — Canada’s largest free music festival.”
“The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is proud to support the Sound of Music Festival as its presenting sponsor. This partnership offers a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with our local community and the many visitors who travel to Burlington each June,” notes Burlington Performing Arts Centre Executive Director Sara Palmieri. “We’re excited to be on-site during the festival to share information about our upcoming season, launching May 29, and to celebrate live music and the arts together. We’re thrilled to play a part in what has become Canada’s largest free music festival.”
The festival will also include traditional elements for everyone, the Midway, Parade, Vendor Marketplace and Music Education tent. “The Sound of Music Festival is more than just a celebration of music – it’s an iconic Burlington event, and Burlington Economic Development and Tourism is proud to support it through the Tourism Investment Fund. The festival attracts thousands of visitors each year, boosting our local economy, supporting local hotels and vendors through valuable partnerships, and shining a spotlight on the best of Burlington. We’re excited to be a part of its continued success and can’t wait to see this beloved event reach even greater heights and create lasting memories for everyone who attends,” says Claire Green, director of destination development and marketing for Burlington Economic Development and Tourism.
VIP Lounge upgrades are available and include access to the front of the Main Stage. The festival is also thrilled to share that they have partnered with local Burlington craft brewery, Nickelbrook Brewing, as their official beer supplier.
“Welcoming everyone to the Sound of Music, showcasing top Canadian acts, while also keeping a spotlight on local and emerging artists, is what keeps me energized; songs we can all sing along to with Canadian pride,” said festival Vice President of Operations Brent Kinnaird. “Our team includes some of the most passionate and dedicated volunteers I’ve ever known. They help power so many aspects of the event.”
A new initiative, dubbed The Encore Club, is a membership in support of the festival to help keep it free. $45 gets you an exclusive t-shirt, acknowledgement on the festival virtual donor wall, and contributes to the long-standing event in the community.
Sound of Music is a summer rite of passage and takes its place again as a launch pad for festival season throughout Ontario. The full lineup and more is available at www.soundofmusic.ca.
