Conservation Halton is celebrating Pride Month at its parks with a series of Pride In Nature events throughout June. Everyone is invited to join these fun, inclusive events presented in partnership with Milton Prism, Pride Toronto, Queer Disc Golf, and Queer as Rock.

“Conservation Halton is strongly committed to cultivating safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces that connect our diverse communities with nature,” said Craig Machan, Director, Parks and Operations at Conservation Halton. “We are excited to be kicking off Pride Month and celebrating the 2SLGBTQI+ community with fun, outdoor events across our parks throughout the month of June.”

With events at Mountsberg, Hilton Falls and Kelso Conservation Areas, Pride In Nature is about engaging and empowering the 2SLGBTQI+ community and allies through outdoor recreation and access to nature. This year’s events include:

  • Birds of ALL Feathers — Saturday, June 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: The Raptor Centre at Mountsberg Conservation Area is celebrating Pride Month and their 30th Anniversary with cake, refreshments, and interactive raptor experiences.
  • Slay Your Way Guided Nature Hike — Sunday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.: Travel the trails to a photo-worthy waterfall with a Conservation Halton educator to learn about the history of Hilton Falls Conservation Area and the wildlife that lives there.
  • I’m Coming Out to a BBQ and Bonfire — Friday, June 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.: Fun for all at Area 8 Conservation Area with lawn games, bonfires, boat rentals, music, and food — all by a crystal-clear lake.
  • Climb As You Are — Sunday, June 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Overcome any challenge and soar to new heights at Kelso Conservation Area’s Challenge Course. Climb the Vulture’s View tower and try out the Escarpment Walk aerial ropes course.
  • Family Disc Golf Day — Saturday, June 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Join Queer Disc Golf at Kelso for a round of nine-hole disc golf with friends, family, and allies! Discs are available to rent or purchase at Trailhead Sports and Retail.
  • Whatever Floats Your Boat — Saturday, June 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Visit Kelso Beach to cast a line or take out a canoe, kayak, paddleboat, or stand-up paddleboard.
