Pollinator-friendly gardens with native plants are growing in popularity.
BurlingtonGreen’s first-ever Native Plant Sale is making it easier for community members to help local nature through their gardening.
While supplies last, kits for sun-loving, shade-loving, and monarch gardens are available, as well as four types of native wildflower seed packets prepared by BurlingtonGreen volunteers.
To avoid disappointment, community members are encouraged to place their online orders as soon as possible at www.burlingtongreen.org/shop for in-person pick up on Sunday, May 26 at BurlingtonGreen’s Eco-Hub at Burlington Beach.
100% of proceeds from the plant sale directly support BurlingtonGreen’s Nature-Friendly Burlington programming to protect and care for local green space and habitat.
“Pollinators and local biodiversity need our collective help,” says BurlingtonGreen Executive Director Amy Schnurr. “And native plants are adapted to thrive in our local environment and climate. They are beautiful, low maintenance compared to annual and perennial gardens requiring little or no watering once established. They provide food and shelter for butterflies, bees and other insects and they help to reduce the risk of flooding and erosion.”
