Empowered Seniors Speaker Series continues through 2024!  Get the answers to your most pressing questions at monthly seminars and panels.

By Marion Goard, Broker, Keller Williams Edge Realty

Are you finding yourself continually looking for facts to get answers to your most pressing questions? The Empowered Seniors Speakers Series is a free community service offered to seniors and their families.

Every month, you can attend a seminar or a panel where you’ll gain valuable and honest information regarding topics that are important to senior living and retired people. You’ll leave each event with the ability to make informed decisions, and you’ll meet experts who can provide reliable and current information.

The seminars and expert panels are a community service offered at no cost to seniors and their families.

Next seminar on April 3, 2024: Retirement homes — are they all the same?
Finding the right retirement community should give you the same sense of excitement and anticipation as finding your first home. Now though, with more options available, it can be difficult to sort out what will be the right fit for you. Retirement communities are evolving to meet the needs of today’s older adults. Each has its own character, list of services, and mix of residents, plus there are options that didn’t exist just a few short years ago. Being prepared before you start to search for a new home will make the discovery of the right solution for you easier.

This month’s Empowered Seniors Speakers Series presenter, Jeanette Bock from Fluid Senior Transitions, brings her passion for helping seniors and their families to a panel discussion about what we need to know about the differences between retirement homes.

During this panel, you’ll learn:

  • How to define your specific needs, now and into the future
  • What is important to budget for in retirement living
  • What are your must-haves and nice-to-haves
  • Considerations for location and amenities
  • What questions to ask when you visit a retirement community
  • How to make the most out of a tour of a retirement residence

Join Marion Goard on April 3, 2024, at the Burlington Art Gallery, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., as she welcomes Jeanette and panelists Oren Singer from Sparrow Living, Sarah Pollice from Sunrise, Kim Routledge from Vistamere, Lauren Crampton from Memory and Company, Muhammad Sobani from Homecare Hub and Burlington Councillor Paul Sharman, representing PACE Community Hub, for this informative and relevant seminar.

This promises to be an information-packed event. Reserve your spot by visiting Empowered Seniors Speakers Series or calling 905-330-5201. Also note the new location, the Burlington Art Gallery at 1333 Lakeshore Rd in Burlington.

About the presenter
Jeanette Bock brings 30 years of customer service and problem-solving experience to her role at Fluid Senior Transitions. She has worked with seniors for the last eight years in retirement living, home care, and with a geriatric care management company helping seniors and their families out of crisis situations, later in life transitions, and aging in place.

Marion Goard began hosting the Empowered Seniors Speakers Series in summer of 2023. Each seminar has a different theme, all on themes that are better considered earlier rather than later, whether you are an older adult yourself or are helping your aging parents. Watch the very first seminar below, from June 2023, on “Understanding how your will, real estate law, and taxes play out on death.”
