Oct. 25 — From One Burlington
One Burlington, the city’s organization dedicated to inclusive celebrations of faith and culture, presents its annual event on Thursday, November 2 in the Main Theatre of the Burlington Performing Arts Centre.
“Music Is The Universal Language” will examine the many ways in which music enlivens our lives, here and around the world.
The event will be divided into two parts. The first will be a panel discussion on the evening’s theme. Daniel Vnukowski, internationally acclaimed concert pianist and host of the New Classical FM 96 morning show, will moderate the discussion, which will also include Wayne Strongman, founding director of Toronto’s Tapestry Opera and longtime conductor of Hamilton’s Bach Elgar Choir, and leader of the Yuan Yin Group, an ensemble of zither players.
The second part of the evening will feature diverse performances of four different musical groups: Shades of Blue, the blues band that includes special Nigerian artists; Yuan Yin’s zither ensemble; Lucky Stickz on the steel drum; and Daniel Vnukowski, who will perform Gershwin’s legendary Rhapsody in Blue.
Complimentary tea, coffee, and water service will be available at intermission.
While admission is free, One Burlington requests that you bring donations for the Burlington Food Bank. To reserve your free tickets, you can contact BPAC at https://burlingtonpac.ca/events/music-universal-language.
