BurlingtonGreen’s annual Clean Up Green Up event registration is open today, March 10, 2023, for school teams, teams of friends, family members, or colleagues to come together and positively impact our local environment.

This event has two parts: the “Clean Up” component and the “Green Up” part. The community clean ups start in mid-March; you can sign up with your team to clean up litter from your neighbourhood, a local school, or a park. The green up tree planting component will take place on Earth Day (Saturday, April 22).

The 2022 Clean Up Green Up event saw 10,565 participants join up into 167 groups to collect hundreds of bags of litter and large debris across the city and plant over 500 trees. Over 600 seed packets were also distributed during the event. Families, school teams, and local businesses all worked hard to pick up litter from over 100 different spots in Burlington.

This year, BurlingtonGreen is aiming for 15,000 participants in honour of the organization’s 15th anniversary. A new online tool will be debuted as well, for the Litter League Challenge: participants can fundraise in support of BurlingtonGreen while cleaning up their community. A sponsorship package is available for businesses who wish to support the event in that way.
