Aug. 28, 2023 — From the Burlington Food Bank

The Burlington Food Bank is pleased to have received a generous $28,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which has enabled the installation of an essential refrigeration unit into their delivery truck. This new capability will enhance the Food Bank’s ability to transport fresh and frozen food donations, ensuring that nutritious items reach those in need while maintaining optimal food safety standards.

The event was also attended by Burlington Food Bank staff, Board members, dedicated volunteers, and community supporters. This enhancement allows for the safe transportation of perishable items, further expanding the range of food donations that can be accepted and distributed. By maintaining the cold chain during transit, the Food Bank can ensure that fresh and frozen items remain in optimal condition, maximizing their usability and nutritional value upon delivery to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

“We are immensely grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support in making this project a reality,” said Robin Bailey, Executive Director, “it allows us to not only receive more fresh and frozen products but also allows us to provide a more nutritionally balanced diet for our clients. We are excited to be able to better serve both our partners and the community better.”
