This week, our pet of the week is S’mores!

S’mores is a very solid boy with an attitude to match. He came in as a stray, and you know he saw some things in his time on the streets, because he’s missing a chunk of his ear and is FIV+. Don’t let that scare you off though!  He’s been at the shelter for 177 days now, poor guy, and in that time has gone from borderline feral to…well, we can’t quite say cuddly, but he likes being pet and will take treats from our hands. Temptations treats go a long way! Because he takes a little bit to warm up, it is so rewarding once he finally trusts you.

From stray to shelter, this guy is ready to live in a home for the first time in his estimated five years of life. He seems okay with other cats, but hasn’t been tested with dogs. He wouldn’t be recommended with kids because he can still be a little bit mouthy when he’s startled. Being in a cozy forever home is just what he needs to come the rest of the way out of his shell!

Burlington Humane is currently raising funds for two animals with special needs, Casper the cat and Spruce the dog, so that they can attend rehab; become one of their generous donors here: https://gofund.me/e529aec4

S’mores is available for adoption through the Burlington Humane Society. Local-news.ca has partnered with the Burlington Humane Society to give you stories of some of the pets they have available for adoption. If you fall in love and want to adopt one of the pets featured, go to the Adopt a Cat or Kitten or the Adopt a Dog or Puppy page on their website for more information on how to proceed.
