Is our future sustainable without faith? Do we need world faiths to help resolve global issues like peace, pollution, and poverty? ONE Burlington is a network of area religious and cultural groups promoting the idea that diversity is the mother of unity in Burlington and beyond. We need the contribution of everyone and every group to make a better city and a better world.

ONE Burlington hosts free seasonal events like our multi-faith presentation for World Religion Day (WRD) on Jan. 16, 2022,  and our commemoration of the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week in February. The WRD event is endorsed by the Halton Multicultural Council and the Interfaith Council of Halton. It brings adherents of multiple religions together to discuss the future of faith through the lens of their own faith.

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Brian Carwana from the Encounter World Religions Centre, Guelph. Other presenters are Hanadi Al-Masri of the Halton Multicultural Council; Rabbi Jordan Cohen of Temple Anshe Sholom, Hamilton; Reverend Michael Coren of St. Christopher’s Church, Burlington; Sita Jayaraman of the Halton Catholic District School Board; and Ervad Mehbad Dastur of the Ontario Zoroastrian Community Foundation in Oakville.

World Interfaith Harmony Week is endorsed by the United Nations, and will be commemorated online in Halton in an event hosted by the Interfaith Council of Halton and endorsed by ONE Burlington. As part of U.N. Interfaith Harmony Week, award-winning writer Roslyn Franken will deliver an engaging and inspirational presentation on February 1 at 7 p.m., to share the true story of her parents’ amazing survival, love, and triumph over tragedy as both Holocaust and atomic bomb survivors. This story was the subject of a Gemini award-nominated CBC television documentary.
