There is a Tikko Boutique Market Fundraiser being held in Burlington this month. We encourage you to check it out online at https://www.tikko.ca/book-launches-events/tikko-boutique-market-fundraiser and mark this event on your calendar; vendors are listed below. All of the proceeds support Tikko’s travels for autism awareness. For more information, check out their website, tikko.ca, or the @thetikkoboutique Facebook page. Donations for the local food bank are gratefully accepted as well.

Tikko is a plush polar bear venturing out into the world to promote autism awareness. “Tikko Travels” is a Facebook page that invites people to “join the journey.” Wherever Tikko visits, they learn about how autism affects local families and what support systems are in place.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by impairments in social interaction, communication, and by restricted and repetitive behaviour. Tikko’s owner, Dorian, is a 13-year-old boy with ASD. He arrived at Woodview Learning Centre in fall 2009 and in 2012, Dorian moved to the Missing Links Academy. In fall 2017, Dorian transitioned to high school. If you want to donate to Dorian’s Tikko campaign giving back to other families affected by ASD, check out the website at https://www.tikko.ca/dorian-s-story.
