Surprisingly, a lot of women in our community are not aware that there are such things as “Certified Menopause Practitioners” and not only do they exist, but two are right here at Brant Arts IDA Pharmacy in Burlington!

In fact, these two experts, Carolyn and Kerry, are currently playing a huge role in shaping the future of women’s health and local-news.ca is helping by spreading the word. Carolyn and Kerry have been recognized for their great service, helping hundreds of women through their transitional years. They have organized a quality improvement study that provides free online education to postmenopausal women about treating their symptoms. They evaluate the impact of the education they provide and this research will be used to improve the future of women’s health.

We have held online education sessions each month since March and we have one more coming up on June 8.

Visit www.brantarts.ca/menopause for more information and to register.

This session provides a casual and relaxed online environment for postmenopausal women to learn:

  • The importance of maintaining and improving health after menopause
  • What is normal and what is not with regards to menopause symptoms
  • Treatment options for menopause symptoms including hormonal and non-hormonal
  • The benefits and risks of each treatment option
  • The risks of choosing not to seek treatment
  • How lifestyle, diet, exercise, stress, and hormonal changes affect quality of life.

This is a quality improvement study to evaluate and improve on the way we educate women on menopause. The study has three parts:

1. Pre-session survey: a 10-minute survey is emailed to you to complete before the session.

2. Virtual session and evaluation: a 2.5-hour virtual session and evaluation immediately following to review your takeaways from the session

3. Follow-up questionnaire three months after your session.

We’ll be happy to address any questions you may have. Please email us at womenshealth@brantarts.ca
