Santa will be travelling down the streets of Burlington again on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, alongside the community floats, costumed characters, and other entertainers marching in the Santa Claus Parade, starting at 2 p.m.
Much-loved parade regulars Burlington Teen Tour Band will be marching, as will the Burlington Teen Tour Band boosters, collecting non-perishable food donations for Burlington Food Bank, and the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club, collecting loonies and toonies along the way. The change they collect goes towards parade operation costs.
Local businesses sponsor and run the parade; this year’s sponsors include Bunzl, the Rocca Sisters Realty Team, King Paving and Construction, D Spot Dessert Cafe, JKM Towing, and Attridge Transportation.
Canada Post letter carriers will walk in the parade to collect any letters that kids in the crowd bring along for Santa.
As part of the celebration for Burlington’s 150+ birthday, the city put out a call for non-profits to submit float designs on the theme of Burlington’s history earlier this fall, and how their organizations connect to Burlington. Three submissions were chosen at random, given $1500 towards float funding, a flatbed truck courtesy of JKM Towing, and space to decorate their floats courtesy of Attridge Transportation.
The three randomly-chosen non-profits were Theatre Burlington, the Burlington Centaurs Rugby Club, and Arts4People Movement. Non-profit applicants who were not chosen were not charged for entry into this year’s parade.
The parade will begin at Guelph Line and Prospect St., moving south before turning west on New St. From New St., the parade will march onto Martha St. and then James St., and end at Brant and Caroline. Roads will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the parade.
