Doors Open is a province-wide event running from April to October where residents and visitors are invited to discover first-hand, the historical, heritage, natural and cultural resources in participating communities across the province. Doors Open is a program of Ontario Heritage Trust. On September 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, we invite you to explore participating venues in Burlington. All tours and activities are free. Brochures are available at either Joseph Brant Museum or Ireland House Museum, or download a printable version.

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre, a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold Certified facility designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, opened in September 2011. BPAC, the focal point for performing arts activity in Burlington, includes a 700-seat Main Stage, a 165-seat Community Studio Theatre, spacious Family Lobby and an outdoor Plaza. BPAC is a presenter, an educator, a rental facility and a community hub. Enjoy entertainment in the lobby throughout the day.

Celebrating 100 years! It was not until 1906 that plans were made for high school education in Burlington. At that time high tuition and travelling expenses meant that many Burlington students left school at the end of Grade 8. The Burlington Masonic Centre has been the home to Freemasons and the Order of the Eastern Star since the 1860s, and several of Burlington’s mayors have served as Master of their lodges throughout the ages. Attendees can visit inside a Masonic Lodge room, learn about the history of the world’s largest Fraternal organization and ask questions during guided tours.

Since its humble beginnings in 1947, the Burlington Teen Tour Band has grown into Canada’s oldest and largest youth marching band. FREEMAN STATION — IN-PERSON

The Burlington Grand Trunk Railway Station, more commonly known as Freeman Station, was built in 1906 to replace the original two-storey station, which burnt down in 1904. Until it closed in 1988, Freeman Station was still transporting passengers and freight. Now a museum, it was restored and is managed by community volunteers, the Friends of Freeman Station.

Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Parish is marking its 75th Anniversary in 2022. The parish was created in 1947 to serve the growing community of Aldershot, and continues to this day as a vibrant centre of worship, welcome, community, and outreach. A warm welcome awaits you at St. Paul’s, celebrating 200 years of worship and service. St. Paul’s is one of the oldest congregations in the Burlington area; the first congregation at St. Paul’s started to meet in 1819. Today St Paul’s is an active church community with weekly worship services and several bible study and other groups. There will be guided tours of the pioneer cemetery, and free hot dogs and refreshments throughout the day!
