Nov. 23, 2021 — Press Release
From the Burlington Performing Arts Centre
Chantal Kreviazuk — the platinum-selling, three-time Juno Award-winning artist — released her first Christmas album just prior to the world’s lockdown, and now it’s finally time to celebrate again, both the album and the upcoming holiday season, with her highly-anticipated LIVE solo performance on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 7pm at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC).
“The world could use the Christmas spirit all year long,” says Kreviazuk. “The kindness, gentleness and thoughtfulness that goes with the season is so healthy. The world could benefit from living by the values that radiate during Christmas.”
The album features five original holiday tunes including the title track “Christmas Is A Way Of Life, My Dear” as well as a jubilant covers of classics such as “Walking In A Winter Wonderland,” “Silent Night,” “Blue Christmas” (a duet with husband Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, AKA MOON VS SUN) and McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time” (featuring the debut of son Sal Maida).
Kreviazuk took a nearly seven-year break from recorded and live music while she was focused on raising her three sons, as well as her other musical passion, crafting songs. She has written for the likes of Drake, Pitbull, Kendrick Lamar, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Josh Groban and countless others.
A frequent collaborator with Kreviazuk, and countless other artists, is singer-songwriter and “Canada’s most ubiquitous side-guy” Kevin Fox who performs TWO live and livestreamed solo concerts with Songs For Cello & Voice on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 4pm & 7pm.
If you have come in contact with Canadian music at all over the last number of years, chances are you have either seen or heard the work of Halifax native, Kevin Fox. Fox has toured and recorded with countless artists, from Justin Bieber and Sarah McLachlan to Steven Page and Chantal Kreviazuk.
However, it is Fox’s remarkable talents as a singer/songwriter in his own right that has earned him a place in the spotlight on stages all across Canada. He combines his beautiful voice with his signature instrument, which he plucks, taps and loops, creating a unique and intoxicating blend of cello-driven folk/pop. Fox’s unforgettable performances include catchy and mesmerizing original music and a wide array of well-known covers by artists such as Paul Simon, The Eurythmics, and Katy Perry.
The third celebrated Canadian singer-songwriter to grace the stages of BPAC shortly is the national treasure and legendary voice and frontman of Blue Rodeo, Jim Cuddy. The Jim Cuddy Band, also featuring Blue Rodeo’s Bazil Donovan and Colin Cripps, returns Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 8pm.
As one half of one of Blue Rodeo’s songwriting partnership, Jim Cuddy has one of the most recognizable voices in Canadian music thanks to omnipresent hits such as “Try,” “5 Days In May,” and “Bad Timing.” As a group Blue Rodeo has sold over 5 million records world-wide, won countless JUNO Awards, been inducted in to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame and Cuddy (along with songwriting partner Greg Keelor) was invested as Officers of the Order of Canada.
Never one to idle, in between Blue Rodeo projects, Cuddy releases acclaimed solo albums and hits the road with the eponymous Jim Cuddy Band featuring Colin Cripps (guitar), Anne Lindsay (fiddle), Joel Anderson (drums), Bazil Donovan (bass), Steve Cooper (keyboards) along with his son and opening act Sam Polley.
“We realized how good we felt when we toured,” Cuddy recently told CBC about the band’s recent return to live music. “[While] touring there’s a lot of complaining that goes on. There is going to be a lot of joy when we get back there — and there’s going to be a lot less complaining.”
Do not miss out on the joy and the magic of live music as our country’s best artists return to the BPAC stage in beautiful downtown Burlington.
