With a decade of song, dance, comedy and magic, intimate performances, and grand spectacles to celebrate, the Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) launched its 10th anniversary season with a limited announcement of fall performances to suit everyone’s tastes.
Illusion, musical concerts, comedy and more highlight a diverse line-up of the first portion of BPAC’s 21/22 Season shows that have been announced, running from October 29 until December 15. As per Ontario guidelines, all patrons must show proof of COVID-19 double vaccination to be permitted entry into the facility. All shows will be hybrid events, performed for a live audience at BPAC and streamed live to patrons at home.
“We are celebrating our 10th anniversary in style, despite the hurdles of reduced capacity! We have an amazing lineup of shows and performers planned for the entire 21/22 Season, which include the fall performances we’re now promoting. At a time when we could all use a little music, laughter, or a reason to stand up and cheer, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is here for you. We are taking every health precaution to ensure that our patrons in the theatre can sit back and enjoy the show is a safe environment. For those who can’t join us in person, you can enjoy all the fun from your own home, as our fall performances will all include a livestream option. We can’t wait to welcome you back to BPAC,” said BPAC Executive Director Tammy Fox.

Tickets go on sale to BPAC Members at noon on Wednesday, October 6, and on sale to the general public at noon on Friday, October 8.

THE SHOWS
The season kicks off with a delightfully charming magician, right before Halloween. LUCY DARLING takes the Community Studio stage October 29, promising a blend of playful improvisational comedy, witty writing, and impossible magical feats.
“I am thrilled to be opening the season for the Burlington Performing Arts Centre – the Paris of the greater Hamilton area,” said Carissa Hendrix, a.k.a Lucy Darling. “I have just finished a sold-out run at the Magic Castle and I am so glad we all get to be together again safely. The delicious laughter and the excitement of a live show I have missed terribly. I think we all could use a little wonder and magic in our lives again. Can’t wait to see you.”
November’s slate of shows starts with LEGACY: In Support of the Downie-Wenjack Fund on November 5. Returning to BPAC for a fourth year, LEGACY combines performance and storytelling as part of our collective reconciliation journey to promote awareness, education, and thoughtful action. Featuring artists such as: Tom Wilson, Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies) & Josh Finlayson (Skydiggers) of Gord Downie’s Secret Path Band, Logan Staats, Philip Davis & the Land Back Unity Jam Band, and more!
The STEVEN PAGE TRIO takes up residence in BPAC’s Main Theatre November 13. Canadian Music Hall of Famer Steven Page has teamed up with Craig Northey and Kevin Fox to perform around the world.
“I’m really excited to be touring again, and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre is one of my favourite places to play,” said Page. “I can’t wait to play a with Kevin Fox and Craig Northey again – it’s been far too long. This show will be fun, safe, memorable and long overdue!”
Local musicians team up at LIVE & LOCAL Hosted by The Mark Lalama Trio featuring Hayley Verrall & Terra Lightfoot! Each show features both emerging and established homegrown talent, backed on-stage by seasoned industry professionals, the Mark Lalama Trio. November 14 will feature guests Hayley Verrall, winner of BPAC’s ‘Hall of Fame’ award and Terra Lightfoot, a Canadian musician and singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario who has released four albums.
An evening of sophisticated silliness is on tap with SEÁN CULLEN’S COCKTAIL HOUR (& A HALF!). Cullen is Canadian comedy royalty and this show combines his comic and musical talents with a host of special guests. Don’t miss the silliness in the Community Studio Theatre November 17 and December 15.
If the smooth, emotive songs of country music legend Patsy Cline are more your speed, you will not want to miss Leisa Way starring in SWEET DREAMS: The Music of Patsy Cline, November 18 to 21 in the Community Studio Theatre.
There is no messing with the classics when the Jimmy Stahl Big Band presents SOUNDS OF SINATRA on November 20 in BPAC’s Main Theatre. Go back to the days when the Chairman of the Board was on top of every music chart, with this performance that will send jazz aficionados back in time.
Enjoy a uniquely Canadian interpretation of the holiday season’s musical highlights with CANADIAN BRASS: Making Spirits Bright!, November 26 in the Main Theatre. Experience how the world’s most famous brass group rings in the season in style.
Kevin Fox brings his signature style back to the BPAC, combining a beautiful voice with plucking, tapping and looping his cello, creating a unique and intoxicating blend of folk/pop for two performances of KEVIN FOX: Songs for Cello & Voice, November 28.
