Thefts of high-end vehicles: September brought ten thefts of vehicles with keyless entry and push-start technology in Burlington. All were taken from residential driveways during the overnight hours. In less than 20 minutes, this could be your vehicle. If possible, lock your vehicle in a garage. You may want to install a steering wheel lock device and/or block the exit of your vehicle with a second vehicle parked behind it.

Operation “Silver Fox”: five arrests have been made in connection with a series of frauds related to a romance scam operating in Burlington. Police remind everyone not to send money or gift cards to people you do not know, for any reason. Keep your personal information confidential, including financial documents, identification, and passwords, even when asked for them online. The victim in this case was defrauded of $150,000 by men and women from other communities.

Impaired driving: citizen-initiated complaints resulted in one Burlington resident being charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired (at Fairview St. and Appleby Line). Four other citizen complaints resulted in four non-residents being charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired or driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 mg or more.

A collision near Upper Middle Road and Walkers Line resulted in a Burlington resident being charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

A R.I.D.E. program in the area of Plains Road and Botanical Drive resulted in a non-resident being charged with impaired driving.

Shooting on September 9: the suspect in a shooting that took place at a residence in the area of Maple Crossing Blvd., a Hamilton man, was found deceased on September 20 in Burlington. The victim was last reported in stable condition.
