We are now in step 3 of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen

As of July 16, Ontario is now in step 3, which allows larger outdoor gatherings of up to 100 people, indoor gatherings up to 25 people, indoor dining with physical distancing in effect, and indoor sports, meeting, and fitness facilities to a maximum 50% capacity. Retail capacity, real estate open houses, and personal care services are limited to the number of people that can maintain a physical distance of two metres apart.

A wide variety of entertainment facilities — museums, galleries, botanical gardens, casinos, cinemas, etc. — are limited to a 50% capacity indoors and 75% capacity outdoors, with specific limits in place for seated events. Dance facilities are restricted to smaller capacities.

Travel restrictions

As of now, American citizens and permanent residents of the United States may be allowed to enter Canada for discretionary travel if they qualify as fully vaccinated. Effective September 7, unless that date changes before then, all other foreign nationals who qualify as fully vaccinated may be allowed to enter Canada. Although there is a minimum 14-day quarantine in place, there is no longer a requirement for a hotel stopover for any travellers arriving by air. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test result is required whether you are entering Canada driving or flying. No test is required for flights within Canada. Even if you are seeking the fully-vaccinated exemption, you must have a quarantine plan in place for where you can stay for at least 14 days. All travellers to Canada must enter their information into ArriveCAN before and after their arrival in Canada. Canada has opened five additional airports for international arrivals: Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Quebec City, and Halifax.

The U.S. land border remains closed until August 21 and the Government of Canada continues to advise travellers to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada. Canadians can enter the U.S. by air and are able to travel back to Canada by air or through the land border.
