Material Histories Online Workshop with Meera Sethi

March 12, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Join artist Meera Sethi in a free live workshop and show & tell, Material Histories, that explores the cultural and socio-political histories of South Asian textiles and garments. Textile contributors will bring a South Asian garment or textile piece that they own to contribute to the discussion and share a story about what it means to them. From these stories, Meera will lead a discussion on South Asian heritage textile crafts and garment design, production, and how they relate to regional cultures, identities, and political histories.
You can participate in this workshop two different ways: as an Audience Participant or as a Textile Contributor.
Audience participants can watch, listen, learn and ask questions during the open Q&A session. To register as an audience participant, please do so through this Eventbrite.
Textile Contributors can register by emailing hitoko@agb.life directly. Please submit an image of your South Asian textile or garment upon email registration so that the artist can conduct some research on your textile or garment piece.
*For Textile Contributors: We respectfully ask that all registered Textile Contributors are committed to attending the workshop, out of consideration for the artist’s time and labour to conduct research on your textile piece. Space is limited to first-come, first-serve. Thank you for your support to help us make it a successful workshop experience for everyone in attendance.
