The Festival of Lights will once again transform Burlington’s waterfront into a glowing winter wonderland from November 28, 2025, to January 8, 2026, marking its 30th year of lighting up Spencer Smith Park. The beloved annual event, known for its dazzling light displays along the lakeshore, is expanding this year with new indoor programming hosted at the Burlington Lions Club Hall, located just steps from the park at 471 Pearl Street.

“For three decades, the Festival of Lights has brought neighbours together on our waterfront,” said John Fanjoy, president of the Burlington Lions Club. “Marking 30 years with accessible, family-friendly programming at the Lions Hall means more ways for everyone to warm up, connect, and celebrate between strolls through the park.”

The excitement for this year’s milestone is already building online. “We can’t wait!” wrote the Florian Realty Team on Instagram under the Lions Club’s announcement of the festival’s return.

To commemorate its 30th anniversary, the Burlington Lions Club has curated a series of indoor community events designed to keep the holiday spirit alive from morning to night. The festivities begin with the Jingle Market and Holiday Gift Wrapping on Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., where visitors can browse local artisan vendors, enjoy warm beverages, and take advantage of complimentary gift wrapping. Admission is free, with donations to the Burlington Lions Club appreciated.

The next day, Sunday, December 7, the Parade Day Pop-Up will run from noon to 6 p.m., offering a full afternoon of festive fun. Guests can take free photos with Santa from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., meet the Grinch between noon and 3 p.m., and watch live ice carving from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will also be hot cocoa, games, crafts, and plenty of photo opportunities to capture the joy of parade day.

For those looking for a more relaxed celebration, the Holly Jolly Tea — Seniors’ Holiday Social takes place on Saturday, December 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This cozy seated tea will feature seasonal treats and warm conversation in a welcoming, accessible space. Tickets are $15. That same evening, the Holiday Hoedown invites the community to kick up their heels from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Whether in boots or sneakers, attendees can learn simple line-dancing steps and two-step their way into the holidays for $15 at the door.

The fun continues Sunday, December 21, with Jingle Beats Silent Disco, a one-of-a-kind dance party running from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Participants can groove under the lights with glowing headsets to Christmas classics for $10 per ticket — perfect for families, friends, and Instagram-worthy moments alike.

The Festival of Lights remains a highlight of Burlington’s holiday season, bringing residents and visitors together for joy, connection, and community spirit. The waterfront pathway is accessible, and Lions Hall provides indoor seating and washrooms. Parking is available nearby, with easy access via Burlington Transit and the Lakeshore/GO corridor.
