Oct. 8, 2025 — BurlingtonGreen
Rain or shine, BurlingtonGreen is hosting their annual Zero-Waste Drop-Off event on Saturday, October 18th at the Burlington Centre parking lot, 777 Guelph Line (at Fairview), with some activities taking place inside the shopping centre.
Community members are invited to pop by anytime between 10 am and 4 pm to drop off electronic waste for proper recycling by R2 certified-Tech Genius. Zero Waste boxes will also be on hand for the collection of various items not accepted by Halton’s recycling program, such as specific plastic containers and candy wrappers. A full list of accepted items is available at www.burlingtongreen.org.
The Burlington Fire Department will participate in collecting used batteries, share lithium-ion safety tips, and swap out smoke alarms over 10 years old (while supplies last). Attendees can check out a real fire truck from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. — unless duty calls!
Unwanted gold and silver will be collected at the event as well, with all proceeds to be donated to BurlingtonGreen via Minty’s Gold & Silver. Repurposing these precious metals helps reduce the demand for harmful new mining.
A variety of fun and educational opportunities will be available from 10:30 am -3:30 pm inside the shopping centre. With a plastic pollution reduction focus, participants can enjoy eco-games, seed-ball making, and enter a chance to win some terrific prizes.
$5 donations are welcome for the electronics drop-off service.
“Since launching the annual Spring and Fall Zero-Waste Drop-Off events, a whopping 36+ tonnes of electronics waste have been diverted from the landfill. Combined with the other items our team will be collecting along with the eco-education provided, we are pleased to provide important opportunities like these that make it easier for community members to “live green”, said Amy Schnurr, Executive Director at BurlingtonGreen.
