FeedHalton staff received two leadership awards at last week’s Feed Ontario annual conference. Robin Bailey, executive director, received the Mountain Mover Award, and Chayda Adora, agency relations manager, was a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The Feed Ontario Leadership awards recognize food banks and individuals who demonstrate strong leadership and community spirit through collaboration, connection, and commitment. Recipients have also fostered a culture of equity both in their own organizations and in the broader food bank network. These awards are presented each year at Feed Ontario’s annual conference, which was held this year in Durham Region, Ontario.

Robin Bailey, executive director at FeedHalton and previous executive director of the Burlington Food Bank, received the Mountain Mover Award this year. The award honours individuals or food banks that have developed innovative solutions to address a community need or challenge, or that have moved mountains to remove or overcome a barrier.

Robin Bailey received this award for his work in transforming the food security landscape in Halton Region. His dedication to the community has been instrumental in establishing FeedHalton, the centralized food distribution agency that will serve Halton Region residents. Through his visionary approach and experience in food banking, Robin spearheaded the creation of FeedHalton in the latter part of his tenure at the Burlington Food Bank to ensure consistent resources and stability for food banks in Halton Region.

Chayda Adora was honoured to be among 30,000 Canadians awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal this year in celebration of His Majesty King Charles III coronation. Chayda received the award in the Community Service and Philanthropy category for her exceptional efforts to combat food insecurity in the Halton community.

“It’s truly an honour to be recognized for the efforts our whole team at Burlington Food Bank and FeedHalton have made,” said Robin Bailey, “and for Chayda to receive an individual award is an exceptional recognition of her tremendous efforts in the sector in Halton and other regions in the province. We are so proud of the work that FeedHalton is doing to strengthen the food system in Halton and of the strides that we have made in a short period of time. Our thanks to Feed Ontario for these special awards.”

“Throughout the province, food banks have risen to the challenge of meeting an unprecedented growth in demand, providing their communities with the healthy food they need,” said Carolyn Stewart, chief executive officer at Feed Ontario. “Congratulations and thank you to this year’s award winners for your commitment and excellence in service.”
