Are you interested in taking positive action for the environment but don’t know where to start? Check out an upcoming event hosted by BurlingtonGreen, featuring the City of Burlington, Plug ‘n Drive, Burlington Transit, the Burlington Repair Café, and more.

Rain or shine, the event will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Burlington Centre parking lot, 777 Guelph Line (at Fairview), with some activities taking place inside the shopping centre.

Community members are invited to pop by anytime between 10 am and 4 pm to drop off electronic waste for proper recycling by R2 certified – Tech Genius. Zero Waste boxes will also be on hand for the collection of various items not accepted with Halton’s recycling program, such as specific plastic containers and candy wrappers. A full list of accepted items is available at www.burlingtongreen.org.

Minty Gold & Silver Exchange will be on site for complimentary evaluation of your broken, unwanted gold and silver jewelry, flatware, tea sets, coins, souvenir spoons, and more, with a portion of proceeds generated to support BurlingtonGreen. And volunteers from the Burlington Repair cafe will provide free repairs to small household items between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. by advance registration.,

Eco-friendly travel options will be featured at the event with popular free EV test drives provided by Plug ‘n Drive, and e-bike and e-scooter demos and test rides courtesy of Vintage Iron E-Cycles and Scooty. City staff will be available to address questions about taking action on climate change and Burlington Transit team members will invite tours of a city bus.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with various event partners to host this special event where attending community members can discover practical, locally-focused opportunities to make a positive difference for the environment, said Amy Schnurr, executive director at BurlingtonGreen. “We’ll also have some fun eco-activities for kids and event attendees can enter a draw for a chance to win a terrific eco-prize pack courtesy of the Burlington Centre.”
