May 8, 2025 — Burlington Historical Society

The Burlington Historical Society welcomes Ray Easterbrook on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m., for an entertaining evening of stories and photos.

Easterbrook’s Hot Dog Stand on Spring Gardens Road has been serving hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, and real ice cream for over 90 years. Their roots go back to 1926 when Mabel Easterbrook first opened the store as a tea house. In 1930, she began selling hot dogs, and thus Easterbrook’s Hot Dog Stand was born.

Ray Easterbrook, Sr., is Mabel’s grandson and ran the restaurant from 1979–2020, handing over the reins to his son Blake when he retired.  Ray will be entertaining us on May 12 with stories of his memories of Mabel Easterbrook and of his mother Irene, who ran the restaurant from 1953–1978.

The Easterbrook family has long been a part of the Burlington/Aldershot community and Ray’s insight into the struggles and hardships of managing a business in changing economic times should resonate with us all.

Join them for coffee, tea, and cookies. All are welcome. Attendance is free. All attendees will get a chance to win a gift card.

Monday, May 12 at 7  p.m. at Burlington Central Library, 2331 New Street, in the Centennial Room.
