This coming Sunday, October 6, 2024, the guilds of Arts Burlington invite the community to join them for their free “Make and Take” event at the Art Gallery of Burlington (AGB). This is an open-to-all, drop-in event with participatory children’s and adult crafts. The works of various artists using a variety of methods and styles will be on display by the guild members. Each of the six guilds will have “exploration stations” set up in their studios at the AGB so you may make and take your artwork.
The guilds and stations include the following:
Burlington Sculptors and Carvers Guild — Admire the work of sculptors and carvers and paint wooden animal cutouts to take home with you.
Burlington Handweavers and Spinners Guild — Children and adults can learn to braid bracelets and try weaving on a portable loom. Adults may also try spinning fibre into yarn.
Burlington Hooking Craft Guild — All ages can try hand-hooking a rug at this exploration station.
Latow Photographers Guild — Children and adults are invited to take pictures in the photo booth as well as attempt darkroom photograms.
Burlington Fine Arts Association — Instructional painting and drawing lessons are available for anyone interested.
Burlington Potters Guild — If you’re interested in pottery, you’re invited to demonstrations on hand-making pottery bowls and creating on the potter’s wheel.
This is a great opportunity to learn something new, find a new hobby or expand on a current one — or just a fun, free activity to do with friends and family! If you’re interested in learning more about a particular type of art, or multiple mediums, drop into the Art Gallery of Burlington, 1333 Lakeshore Road, Burlington, ON, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for the Open Studios event.
