Aldershot is now home to two new murals: one at 574 Plains Rd. E. on the side of the plaza that is also home to Mr. Sub, and one on the outside wall of the Tim Hortons at 29 Plains Rd. W.

The larger of the two, the “Greetings from Aldershot” mural, was sponsored by the Aldershot BIA, is the first mural on Plains Rd. The artist, Mr. Spray Art, created a bright and cheery piece of art to welcome people to Aldershot, visitors and locals alike.

Says the Aldershot BIA, “We couldn’t be happier with how this turned out!”

This is not the only initiative that the Aldershot BIA has undertaken to beautify Aldershot; this spring, Aldershot BIA invested in planters placed along Plains Rd., and they run the “Keep Aldershot Beautiful” program, with incentives for businesses to enhance their storefronts. According to the program’s website, ‘”By investing in storefront upgrades and repairs, the Aldershot BIA aims to create a more attractive and inviting streetscape that will attract visitors, encourage foot traffic, and ultimately contribute to the economic vitality of the area.”

The Olive Oil Dispensary is one of Aldershot’s businesses taking part in the “Keep Aldershot Beautiful” program.

The second mural was created in a partnership between Tim Hortons and Aldershot High School. This is the second such mural created at the restaurant by teaming up with local youth. Talented Aldershot students painted the Timbits-and-outdoors-themed mural that is now on display at the drive-through. (We’re not sure which part is our favourite: the hat-wearing Timbit, the scenery and wildlife, or the beautiful border!)
