Free celebration of policing includes activities and entertainment for all ages
May 6, 2024 — Halton Regional Police Service
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) would like to invite community members to its 22nd Police Day on Saturday, May 11. The free, family celebration of policing will take place, rain or shine, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at HRPS Headquarters, located at 2485 North Service Road in Oakville.
Police Day offers visitors of all ages a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about law enforcement through a series of interactive displays and demonstrations.
Opening ceremonies, featuring presentations by the Honour Guard, Pipes and Drums, and remarks from Chief Stephen Tanner and Halton Police Board Chair Jeff Knoll, will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Highlights of the day will include:
- Tactical Rescue Unit, K-9, and Motorcycle demonstrations
- Interactive displays
- Inflatable amusements and games
- Live bands
- BBQ catered by Troy’s Diner ($)
Indoors, guests can explore numerous booths with information about emergency services, diversity, and volunteer and recruiting opportunities. Additionally, in honour of the HRPS 50th Anniversary, make sure to explore the new HQ lobby museum display featuring various artifacts and photos.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to visit the newly re-opened HRPS Children’s Safety Village, a miniature town that offers an interactive learning environment focused on community and personal safety.
The theme of this year’s Police Day event mirrors Ontario’s Police Week (celebrated May 12–18) theme: “Join Policing: Keep Ontario Safe,” in recognition of the key role policing has in ensuring the safety and well-being of all those who call Halton region and Ontario home. Be sure to stop by our recruiting table if you or someone you know is interested in a career in policing.
Please note that parking is free at the south and north side of the Region of Halton Building off North Service Road and Bronte Road.
