On September 16, 2023, United Way Halton and Hamilton (UWHH) will be teaming up with UPS for their 5th Annual Plane Pull. This highly anticipated event will kick off the UWHH’s fundraising season, and teams have already started working hard to fundraise and prepare for the pull.
Each team will have the chance to pull the plane fifty feet across the tarmac at Hamilton Airport, but the most important component is: who will pull it the fastest? The team with the shortest combined time will win prizes, and even if you’re not planning on participating there will be something for everyone — the event will include food trucks, face painting, bouncy castles, and more to keep everyone engaged.
United Way Halton and Hamilton have made a tremendous impact on families and individuals in the area. According to their 2022–2023 Impact Report, “143,562+ families and neighbours received help, and together we raised $11 million.”
United Way supports individuals in the Halton and Hamilton region by funding programs to help put an end to poverty, assisting those facing systemic barriers, and providing families with basic supplies. Some of these life-changing programs include youth substance-use counselling, evening social recreational rehabilitation, and student nutrition programs, just to name a few.
United Way states that, “We are incredibly grateful for the trust you’ve shown in United Way to lead the path to mobilize action and innovation.” It is fundraising events such as the United Way Plane Pull that help support struggling individuals in our community.
So, how can you help make a difference?
Registration for the Plane Pull is available on uwhh.ca, and each team must start by fundraising a minimum of $1,500 to participate in the event. Each participant will be provided with an individual fundraising page making it easy for friends and family to donate. Join United Way Halton and Hamilton on September 16, 2023 to help make a difference in your community!
