Nominations closed Friday for the position of Halton District School Board trustee for Burlington’s Wards 1 and 2. According to the city’s website, eight people are in the race. The by-election will be held May 29, 2023.
Running are: Robbie Brydon, Celina Close, Michael James Duhacek, Chris Goff, Anthony Hoyes, Omar Kayed, Ross Montgomery, and Daniel Warren Oke.
Kayed, Goff, and Duhacek all ran unsuccessfully last fall and all have websites.
Brydon’s website reports that he has a master’s degree in economics and is a researcher in economic and social policy at McMaster University.
Close’s site says she is a human resources professional in the tech industry and Daniel Oke reports that he is a martial arts instructor.
Mr. Hoyes’ website remains under construction.
Ross Montgomery has yet to offer a website.
The by-election became necessary when Matthew Diodati resigned.
While the formal election is May 29, voters may cast their ballots online between May 15 and May 19 along with advance polls on Wednesday, May 24.
