The work of multi-talented artist, curator, collector and Burlington resident Joan Butterfield is featured in a special Black History Month art exhibit in Oakville until March 3.
The Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton presents In Celebration of Black History Month: Joan Butterfield and Paul Dias at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre’s main gallery, including vibrant works from Butterfield’s Homeless and Covid Sheroes series and On Safari series, and Dias’ local landscape paintings.
Butterfield’s work was also featured in last year’s Emancipation Art Exhibition presented by the Halton Black History Awareness Society in Georgetown; see our profile of Butterfield here. She has curated exhibits for Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum, is founder and art director of the Association of African-Canadian Artists, and produces and curates their annual travelling COLOURblind exhibits, amongst many other accomplishments.
