Earlier hopes that the renewal and upgrading of Plains Road West in Aldershot would be finished this year have been dashed.
The local city councillor this week advised a meeting of the Partnering Aldershot group of agencies that the project will spill over into 2023.
“They’re a few months behind schedule,“ according to Kelvin Galbraith.
The multi-million dollar project that runs from Waterdown Road to Spring Gardens Road includes curb and sidewalk improvements, new bike lanes, enhanced intersections and crosswalks, as well as better bus stops.
Galbraith told the meeting that there had been hopes and predictions that the project would be completed in 2022 but that it has now reverted to the original two-year timeline. He reported that the construction companies are having difficulty finding sufficient staff to keep up with the work. He said that, at the very least, the final paving will not be finished this year.
