This past weekend, a unique art event brought community members together in southeast Burlington’s Elizabeth Gardens neighbourhood. The Art Walk event got people out, walking in the beautiful sunny weather, and enjoying some locally-produced art. The artists’ mediums vary widely, from paint to upcycled household linens, wood to clay, with interactive exhibits and displays set up across the neighbourhood.
Art Walk was organized by the Elizabeth Gardens Creative Collective Burlington, and funded by the City of Burlington’s Community Support Fund. Other event sponsors included Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, the Wine Bar, Tooli-Art, and Cunningham McConnell Ltd.
Artists and organizers Heather de Haan, Kelly Devenish, and Caroline Saint spent six months organizing the event, combining their love of art and fostering community engagement together to create an opportunity for Elizabeth Gardens residents to show off their talent and meet up outdoors.
Artists were not selling their work at this event, but the Creative Collective’s website features an artist page where you can find artist biographies and contact details if you’d like to find out if particular pieces are available to purchase. Check out some of their work in the event photos we took below!
