Aldershot’s Councillor Kelvin Galbraith spent only $4403 of his annual $10,000 budget last year.
City councillors have an annual office budget to be used for a variety of things, such as memberships, cell phones, subscriptions, mileage, etc. The highest spender last year was Ward 2 Councillor Lisa Kearns at $5510, also under budget.
Mayor Meed Ward has a much larger budget.
Councillor Galbraith spent the largest component of his budget in the category of “Gifts in Kind, Promotion, Souvenirs, Promotional Supplies, General Office, Advertising and Furniture.” His second largest area of spending was for “Cell Phone” at $1639, followed by “Newsletters and Mailings” at $581.
At the regional level, Galbraith claimed $611 for a conference expense.
City councillors receive an annual salary of $110,086. This is split evenly between the city and the region.
